English improvisational Theatre Workshop

English Improvisational Theatre Workshop

with Stephen Thornton at EVOÉ Escola de Actores
Produced in partnership with Fluxus Stage

In this 8-week workshop we will dive into the world of improvisational theatre. Using theatre games and improv exercises students will learn the theory and skills behind improvised Monologues and Scene Work. We will be using these skills in preparation for the student to perform the longform improv format: “That makes me think of…” Which is inspired by Del Close's hypothesis of developing group-mind between the players and the audience.  You'll learn it and then you will perform it in the last class, in front of family and friends invited by the students.

This course aims to develop essential skills to improve your comfortability and presence on-stage, gain further trust in your intuition, express and communicate your thoughts clearly through your artistic voice and simply be present. How to be ok without not knowing. Learning the difference between discovering and inventing.

This workshop is for anyone who wants to take a leap into the unknown and see what type of theatre happens when you have no script to follow and instead follow your intuition and play.

USEFUL INFORMATION:

  • Open to all interested parties, with or without prior experience in improv.
  • For the class, students should bring comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
